Jeff Hagerty of @J3Outdoorz travels to Kodiak Island AK with great friend Rob Caven of Minnesota Trapping Supplies. The end result is a comparison of Kodiak Island Red Fox with a large Michigan Red Fox… Be sure to watch to the very end for an awesome scene ;) There are 45 subspecies of Red Fox recognized throughout the world. Vulpes vulpes harrimani is a separate and distinct sub-species, only ...

You're good
thank you
How much chain do you like using your system I am setting up some Beaver Extreme No Bs traps that only have 10 in chain
As short as possible. Stock chain. We are shooting for front feet and want to get there nose to the bottom :) shorter the better.
Anymore you might get a 1.00 for the raccoon lol. V stand not for me. It keeps the trap 4 inches off the ground. Too high
you should find a different buyer. Mine are all sold for a $15 nose count. ... Also not sure what you are targeting, but 4-6" off the ground is ideal for raccoon as it centers their eyes in the trap... no "ducking"... but to each their own. Good luck.
What happens if you don’t use a drowning rod and just stake the trap
problems... you definitely would want to target back foot catches else you will have a very high percentage of twist offs. They are hard to secure staked directly - beavers are very strong and a lot of beaver ground is very soft. You will be dealing with a live beaver... etc etc
Appreciate your expertise. Missed alot of coyotes bc traps froze up. Gonna try peat moss, wax dirt too much work!
Appreciate it! Good luck. Peat works great once you get the hang of it... small trap bed with light amount of peat or else it is spongy. Be sure to dry it as well (although I have used straight out of the bag countless times)
what was that you used under the pan?
That was an underall ... you can get them at trapping supply dealers.
Man I really enjoyed this youtube clip. Wish we had muskrat like that in North Alabama
Thank you Kevin. Glad you enjoyed it!
Central AL here, I would think yall had a bunch of otter up there that would more than replace it
Not to shabby ole buddy
Thanks Buddy :)
Great looking set Jeff, thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
The young man should be a successful trapper today pass our knowledge on is the future of trapping nice Job
Thank you!
Hello Jeff 👍(Mike)
Hey Mike!
Thanks for sharing brother love your drowning rod ends, wont use anything else!
Thank you! I appreciate your support!!!!
I use waxed sand for all my sets works great just curious why you use calcium chloride with waxed dirt ? Thanks
It’s insurance. Primarily to keep the edges of the bed from freezing against the jaw/lever and for any blending to keep from crusting. Keeps the trap firing at is best possible performance.
@ oh okay that’s good to know thanks
@@clayhaddon3968you bet!
Nice video buddy.
Thanks!
👍👍👍
Really good information!!
Appreciate it.
Thanks Jeff for that clip. Hope to see more.
Thank you
What are those rods? Or where do you get that whole setup with the bracket bait holder and rod?
Those are 3/8" fiberglass rods with HAGz products... Everything is available at shop.j3o.com
great video, first year trapper hear. plan on hitting some ponds next weekend or the river
Highest quality stuff around. Great job Hagz. Keep up the good work.
Appreciate it!
How do you like em? i trying to decide between these and the lacrosse trapline rubber ones
I have both, I like both. Lacrosse stand up on their own better and what I prefer for all day water trapping, especially when its cold out. The stone creek or dans I wear when bouncing in/out of water, land, etc and its warmer.
What waders are those Jeff?
Stone creek
Will these work on 1/2 rebar?
Only if you grind the ribs off... It's made for 1/2" smooth rod (steel or fiberglass)
But then you have to buy stakes.
that's correct
I wish I could see the details.
Hello @66bigbuds ... Here is a link to the webpage, if this doesn't have the details you're after, please let me know and I'll be happy to assist further. j3o.com/hagz-bracket-1
Why? What does it do? I understand using them for conibears. But I dont see the use on leghold traps.
It allows you to a) stabilize your trap at any height using a fiberglass rod (top edge sets, hut sets, baited sets, etc. etc.) b) stabilize your trap on any object by wiring it, screwing it, etc to said object c) stake via the stake swivel hole d) drowner setup with the built in drowner lock... j3o.com/hagz-bracket-1
Love my HAGZ universal brackets!!
Thank you for your support!
Hell yeah brother!!
Do you keep the rods white or do you paint them?
I paint mine. Some do, some don't ... I paint just to reduce visibility from humans, nothing to do with beaver.
@@J3Outdoorz ok thanks for the info.
Holding that trap with your finger hooked on the eye of the lever is something you’ll only do once 😳
Thank you for the very helpful video!
you bet!
Great video and informative, wish I had more areas like this around me in Vermont but hey 🤷🏻♂️ I been slamming nuisance beavers so can’t complain too much, we can’t touch or set on the huts here so a little tough finding areas like that here.
Thank you.
Just started using the HAGz bracket and clips this year attached to a 3/8" fiberglass rod. I would recommend them to anyone who plans to trap muskrats.
Awesome, glad you like them Robert!
Thanks for sharing! What traps are you using?
You bet. MB550
Awesome!!
thanks
I’m in northern Minnesota. Big woods. Cable restraints will be the end of our snaring. I like to run 30-50 snares a day. Cable restraints with deep snow will not work
They’ll work, you just have to get over the learning curve. Right cable, right lock and right set location.
Great products, sir. Any idea when the fiberglass rods will be back in stock?
Thank you! should be in about a week.
Best kind of rat trapping are these types of swails/drainage ditches . All walkable in hip waders. Maybe a few areas for colony traps. Awesome
absolutely!
Hard to find ground down there?
not really... just be polite
Where can I buy the Fiberglas rods?
shop.j3o.com
Anything such as fishing, & outdoors life is amazing to me, i sure was wondering what are yall doing with those but he amsered my questions, alligator bait, but do yall sale the hide as well😊
Thank you!
Looks like a great product. We cant get the rods up here in Canada, at least where I live but I use 10' 1/2" rebar. I dont like wire.
I hope you have been well rewarded for using your head and hope you continue to come up with great products
Thank you, I will do my best :)
Outstanding brilliant inventive product
Thank you very much Steve
Just want you to know you have great products and great prices. Thanks for making my life easier!
Glad you like them!
my stomach turns watching you just randomly grab any parts of those traps! I know they are safety clipped but that doesnt ease the impending doom feeling.
Sorry, I don't fear the trap :)
thanks jeff i got a half doz at the PTA getting them set up and ready for this year
Thanks for your support!
Are you bringing fiberglass beaver rods to the Minnesota convention?
yes sir!
That’s A Rare Site👍👍
Pretty awesome.
Thanks!
